FSS

The filter with screening screw is suitable for many applications, in particular for both micro and macro screening of sludge and floating material of civil or industrial wastewater plants. It consists of a multifunctional screw, a cylindrical filtering screen with filtering gap of adequate size, a cleaning system for the screen and a sturdy gear motor. For micro-screening (FSSM), the filtering screen consists of wedge wire bars and the cleaning is made with the screening surface in slow rotation, by means of spray nozzles and blades secured within the screen. For macro screening, the filtering screen instead consists of bars that wound all around the circumference, cleaned by a suitable rotating rake comb.
The water to be filtered passes through the filtering screen of big diameter, depositing on the bars the material of a size greater than the gap. Most of the time, therefore, the equipment has no part in movement; only when the difference between the screen upstream and downstream reaches the limit value, the gear motor will activate the comb or the screen (FSSM) and screw motion. The comb teeth, or the blade with regard to the FSSM, clean the screen and deposit the screened material on the central screw having a diameter smaller than the screen. The screw is used for removal, lifting, compaction and sacking of screened material. The screened material, before being discharged and sacked in a suitable container, is submitted to compaction and de-watering involving an about 50% decrease in weight. Moreover, the completely closed body, which is a peculiarity of this equipment, avoids the diffusion of bad smells. On request, the screw filter can be provided with a system for the screened material washing with nozzles and pressurized water.
The length and diameter of the screen are set according to the channel height and width; they therefore depend on the water flow to be treated. On request it is possible to have models with the length of the filtering screen different from the standard one, in order to increase the flow of water to be treated. Moreover, always on request, it is possible to have screw filters with the desired discharge height.
The standard construction is in stainless steel.
