The sand classifier is installed on small and large size water treatment plants, generally downstream the sand traps in order to obtain a stronger dewatering of the sands. It consists of a tank, a screw conveyor that, regarding the model ES, is shaftless or, regarding the model ESA, is with shaft, a drive unit, a washing system and a sand discharge hopper.
The sand settled on the tank bottom is collected, lifted by the screw conveyor and then drained and discharged. The screw diameter and consequently the classifier model, vary according to the water flow to be treat. The equipment drive is achieved by a gear motor directly fitted on the same axis as the screw.
The classifier is complete with adequate supports and anchor bolts to ensure the good stability. The protection against overloads is ensured by an electronic load limiting devices. In the model ESA, the screw with shaft is supported, in the lower part, by a special double-seal grease-lubricated bearing. In the model ES, the shaftless screw is supported by a thick layer of wear-proof material.
The competitive edges of this equipment consist in the good performances and its extreme constructional and operation simplicity. The standard construction is in carbon steel protected by an epoxy painting cycle after a treatment with inorganic primer. On request it is possible the construction in stainless steel.
