The hydraulic vertical screen is installed on medium and large size civil or industrial wastewater plants, irrigation channels or feeding channels for dams or hydroelectric power plants.
This machine consists of a support structure, a filtering screen, a rake for the screen cleaning, a rake cleaning device, a double acting hydraulic cylinder with one or more runs for the upward and downward motion of the moving unit, a second hydraulic cylinder for the rake traverse motion, an hydraulic unit and a control panel.
The GVI reproduces with mechanical movements the manual screened material removal; on the upward stroke, the rake is in contact with the filtering screen and removes the material deposited on it. At the end of the upward stroke, the rake cleaning device moves the screened material away and in the downward stroke, thanks to its traverse movement, the rake goes down to an established distance from the screen.
The equipment operation depends on a control panel which operates the hydraulic power unit. The operation frequency is controlled by a timer or, on request, by a differential ultrasound level meter.
If required, the manual operation can be activated from the control panel. The protection against overloads is ensured by overpressure valve fitted on a by-pass line of the hydraulic system.
For special applications, for channel width exceeding the standard size, it is possible to have a SGVI screened material remover which slides on rails along the channel width. It comprises rake, support structure and equipment for the motion. With this solution the filtering screen is stationary and the screened material remover moves steps by steps along the channel width, cleaning the whole screen. The motions are synchronized by a programmed logic controller (PLC).
Since the motions are all hydraulically controlled, the special execution of the GVI allows the installation in channels at risk of flooding; actually the screen can be completely submerged, provided that the power unit is at a safety height from the water.
The standard construction is in carbon steel protected by hot dip galvanization. On request, it is possible to have the protection with epoxy painting cycle or the screen made in stainless steel.
