The countercurrent vertical chain screen is suitable to meet any screening requirements, according to the channel size, flows and filtering gap. This type of screen consists of a frame made from cold formed steel plate on which the guides for the special type roller chains are machined. The geared wheels for the chain motion are secured only at the top end of the equipment while on the lower part of the screen the chain is directly wound around static return device. This avoids that mechanical parts in motion are immersed in water, thus ensuring their reliability and long life. The filtering screen cleaning is ensured by one or several combs fitted on the double chain which will recover the screenings kept by the bars. The peculiarity of this screen consists in the countercurrent cleaning. The cleaning combs act on the channel side downstream the screen. This working characteristic avoids that the screened material wedges itself between the lower part of the screen and the cleaning combs and eliminates the risk of clogging. An oscillating cleaning device ensures the comb cleaning and facilitates the screened material fall into the hopper below. The equipment motion is operated by a gear motor and the protection against overload is ensured by standard dynamometric devices or, on request, by electronic load limiting devices.
The standard construction is in carbon steel protected by hot dip galvanization. On request, it is possible to have the protection with epoxy painting cycle or the screen made in stainless steel.
