The process for sand and grease removal in a civil or industrial water treatment plant is usually placed just downstream the screening unit and before the depuration treatments. A sand trap which operates perfectly results in minimize the occurrence of clogging and wearing problems for the pumps, if any, installed downstream.
The range of the products proposed for the sand and grease removal allows the removal of sands from sewage and the possibility to discharge them with a high percentage of dry product and minimum quantity of organic substance; as regards several type of sand traps, the contemporaneous removal and elimination of oily substances and greases are carried out. This special treatment, beside reducing the organic load for the subsequent treatment processes, noticeably reduces the formation of foams as they perform a preliminary aeration of the sewages. The specific sheets give any information required for a correct dimensioning and selection of the sand-grease remover which better complies with the specific requirements.
Any models are sized for a sewage flow, at the normal operating conditions, that allows the precipitation and extraction of the only sands.
We wish to point out that the sand removal and degreasing process can also be carried out directly by the compact sewage pre-treatment station FCSDS type, whose description is given in the specific section. Moreover, the removal of floating oil and grease can be also carried out by means of different equipment of SERECO production, such as RC chain scrapers, etc.
